Through creating vibrant, detailed and colorful mixed media art and illustration, Liz Munro seeks ways to connect with and express the divine feminine. Her work is figurative and women-centric, inspired by the beauty and power of nature, the earth as mother, as well as alternative women's history, myths, and symbols.
From making collages exclusively with magazine images and glue, Liz’s mixed media work has evolved to incorporate paper mache, paper clay, specialty papers, tissue paper, printed illustrations, acrylic paint and pens, crushed glass, glitter, rhinestones, bead embellishments, and second hand elements.
Australian born, Liz has been residing in the USA since 2012. After thirteen years raising two children in the wildly creative hot house of South Orange/Maplewood, NJ, she now lives with her husband in Oakland, California.
Liz completed a BA in Fine Arts History & Psychology from Sydney University in 1989, a Post Grad Diploma of Film & TV in Animation at VCA, 1997 in Melbourne, and a Masters of Animation & Design at UTS, Sydney, Australia, 2005.
Along side making and exhibiting art since the 90s, Liz worked as a graphic designer in print. With her animation skills she was able to move into online work in the 2000s. Since relocating to the USA, Liz has focused on making and exhibiting mixed media art and freelance illustration.
