I am an Australian artist now living in South Orange, New Jersey (the greater NYC area). I moved here in 2012 with my family - an Irish husband, our two Australian children and a cat. We now have another cat and a fish from NJ and a rescue dog from Georgia. We are settled!
I work across different mediums mainly using pencil, pens, paper, paint, a scanner, and a wacom cintiq. I am also an art supply addict!
Frequenting art galleries from a young age led me to study fine art history at Sydney University in the late 80s. I was intrigued with art incorporating collage which influenced me to start making mixed media work. My other creative infatuation has been with animation and I studied a Post Grad Dip.of Film & TV in Animation at VCA in Melbourne, Australia and then a Masters of Animation at UTS, Sydney, Australia.
Along side my art pursuits I worked as a graphic designer for many years. I moved from hand and computer layout of weekly music and entertainment newspapers in the 90s through to website design in the dot boom and into creating animated web content.
I have always enjoyed creating surreal images of women and nature, infused with story, detail and glimpses of fanciful places. A lot of my work celebrates the mythic and metaphoric idea of the feminine as a force of nature. It is a flowing fusion of texture, image, pattern and color created by combining multiple materials.
I have been exhibiting art in group shows for almost 30 years and since moving to New Jersey I have been fortunate enough to be accepted into several juried shows.
Creating images is my passion and it is my way of singing to the world. I hope you like the tunes.
